Project Overview
This residential insulation project took place while the timber roof structure was open for renovation. With the framing accessible, the installation focused on selected roof and wall cavities, including overhead sections and connections between timber members. The open construction stage made it easier to see where the foam was being applied before interior finishes concealed those areas.
What Made This Project Different
The exposed timber framing provided direct access to roof and wall cavities, including overhead joints and difficult-to-reach corners. A translucent covering was visible above the structure, bringing natural light into the workspace. The key consideration was matching the foam application to the actual roof assembly and its moisture-control requirements.
Work Performed
The photographs show spray polyurethane foam being applied to selected overhead and wall cavities around exposed timber members. The work required access around joists, corners and framing transitions, where uneven coverage is easier to overlook. These images document the application stage, not the final inspection or a measured whole-building energy result.
Project Result
The installation photographs show foam coverage developing across the exposed roof and wall framing, including overhead sections and timber junctions. Working before interior finishes were installed kept these areas visible and accessible. Final installed thickness, material R-value and completed inspection results are documented separately when the project records are available.
Practical Takeaway
Open framing makes it easier to inspect junctions and plan where the air and thermal boundaries should run. Adding more insulation alone is not always the answer: roof design, ventilation and moisture control have to be considered together before choosing a spray foam system.
